How can you be the hero when you're the monster? While walking home from his friend's house during a full moon, Max is only worried about getting home after curfew. He should be worried about the werewolf sneaking up behind him. Barely escaping with his life, Max soon discovers that he is infected and has become a werewolf himself. During the next full moon, Max changes and runs away, wild with fear and rage. The other werewolves find him and keep him from killing people in the madness of his first transformation. The werewolves tell him that the youngest member of their pack bit him in a moment of weakness. It was a tragic accident. But now Max is one of them, and must join them to learn how to control himself. They also explain that there are other monsters in the area that threaten the town. Mysterious and powerful banshees haunt the graveyards for miles around, summoning armies of the undead with a foul glowing mist. The werewolves have been fighing back the zombies and attempting to destroy the banshees for ages. Now Max must join them in their ancient war. When Max discovers that it's the wolves' mindless rage in battle that ultimately prevents them from defeating the banshees, he is determined to find the secret to self control as a werewolf. But learning that secret means taking risks. And in the end, Max might be the most dangerous monster of all.
