I grew up on the south side of Chicago in an area known as Morgan Park. MP is a real community that flourishes because of the closeness that you can easily describe as family. Morgan Park is where a married couple from the south would begin an upbringing of a household that was like no other. I have encountered many people and have heard many stories, and yet my life remains unique. This book is my story, along with memoirs of others that have experienced growth from the same lenses as myself. Every day a child is taken from their birth parents and put into a hideous system that is best known as the Department of Children and Family Services. For the most part, a good majority of these children will lose complete contact with their biological families. These children will eventually become foster children before being adopted, or they will just remain in long-term foster care. Nonetheless, these children will face many obstacles and challenges, mostly mental. This book is where I begin my quest in trying to not only shed light on a problem that has affected many families but an issue that continues to impact many individuals. Hopefully, this book will help. You are not alone, but you only have one option, and that is to make it!
