严格地说，《第二期中国文明的文学史》，可以从南北朝甚至魏晋时代算起。正如第三期中国文明的文学史，应该从中华民国算起。但是魏晋南北朝作为汉朝和唐朝之间的过渡，属于一个比较混乱和模糊的中间地带，既可以算作唐朝的序幕，也可以算作汉朝的尾声。因此为了"两期中国文明的文学史"之间的篇幅平衡，我就把它归入《第一期中国文明的文学史》了。 Synopsis: Strictly speaking, "The Second Issue of Literary History of Chinese Civilization" can be counted from the Northern and Southern Dynasties and even the Wei and Jin Dynasties. Just as the third period of the literary history of Chinese civilization should start from the Republic of China. However, as the transition between the Han Dynasty and the Tang Dynasty, the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties belonged to a relatively chaotic and vague intermediate zone, which can be regarded as the prologue of the Tang Dynasty and the end of the Han Dynasty. Therefore, in order to balance the length of the "Two Issues of Literary History of Chinese Civilization", I included it in the "First Issue of Literary History of Chinese Civilization".
