About the Series: The Garveyite: Workbooks One to ThreeThe Garveyite workbook series is a set of three books (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) based on the life and work of the Right Excellent Marcus Mosiah Garvey, Pan-African leader and founder of the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA). The workbooks are designed for use in schools, from primary through to tertiary, as well as for adults who are interested in the study of Garvey's ideology.ABOUT THE AUTHORKamau Mahakoe is the principal and co-founder of the Kemet-Maasai Academy, a primary-level institution, located in Portmore, Jamaica. An educator for over two decades, Kamau is the 2014 recipient of the UNIA Marcus Garvey Centennial Award (Jamaica Chapter) for contribution to the field of Education. Kamau is a 2014 recipient of the prestigious "Outstanding Educator" award from the University of Chicago. She is a two-time Adult Champion in the Jamaica Library Service National Reading Competition. Kamau has also had over seven years' experience as a journalist and feature writer. She is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education. With over thirty published books, Kamau gives voice to an authentic Caribbean experience while exploring themes that are universal and complex.
