Overview
Until recently, most efforts concerning osteoporosis research was mainly directed at the mechanisms of a type of osteoporosis known as post-menopausal osteoporosis. However, a new syndrome, osteoporosis in older persons, has been recognized as a new entity with its own pathophysiology and potential treatments. This book details recent advances in the elucidation of the mechanisms involved in senile osteoporosis as well as its potential treatment, bringing an integrated approach from the bench to the clinical practice. A unique aspect of this book is its emphasis on the application of translational research in the field of osteoporosis and falls which make it useful not only to biologists but also to clinicians and epidemiologists.
