Overview
Viviana is a touching tale of life during the time of the early Church. The Roman Empire is unsettled, and life is hard for the first believers. Viviana's mother is cruelly murdered in the arena, and her brother, Columba, becomes fascinated with Roman power, eventually becoming a general in the army. He is a malignant force in her life; she gets him away from her aunt's house, where she believes he means only harm. Viviana finds refuge with other believers, and is 'encouraged' to marry, although the marriage is a happy one. But will Columba return, as he has promised...?
