Overview
THE EMERGENCE OF ECOSOCIALISM, COLLECTED ESSAYS is the first posthumous publication by Joel Kovel, an author, activist, and scholar who died on April 30, 2018. In 2001, Kovel co-wrote "An Ecosocialist Manifesto," which sparked a global movement rooted in ancient traditions and forward-looking visions. Since then, numerous books and hundreds of articles have been released as issues like global warming, climate change, pollution, and ecological sustainability have become pressing global concerns. This heightened awareness has led to the rise of ecosocialist movements and organizations across all inhabited continents. For the first time, editor Quincy Saul has assembled THE EMERGENCE OF ECOSOCIALISM, a comprehensive collection of Kovel's essays on ecosocialism that documents the development of its theory and practice, serving to inform and educate. This collection includes original manifestos, essays, undelivered speeches, and notable pieces from "Capitalism Nature Socialism, the Journal of Ecosocialism that Kovel edited, providing a thorough guide to ecosocialist practice from one of its pioneers.
