Ben Slater felt responsible for everything at the ranch, and now his problem solving mind had to quickly get clean water to the animals in the back fields or they would die. Their water source had gone bad. He was also dealing with regulations of the Homestead Act. They could lose much of the land if they didn't build cabins and drill wells before spring. How could they do it all? Ben's solution to part of it was to blow up the underground waterway that was bringing salt. He didn't know that it would destroy the secret, sacred place that David and Sarah guarded.If they could take river water to the distant fields it would solve part of the problem. Ben went to the Blue Stone Indians for help. He needed many strong men to dig a canal. God's sudden provision compelled Ben to buy land behind the bluff, upriver. Could that land save the lives of the Indians that Sarah and David loved? Could he protect them from the soldiers that sought them? A life long decision took Brother Tim to his knees, while a frantic search for all their specially bred white horses, led Ben to the Bible.
