Sean O'Donnell is contemplating suicide. At 23 he had auditioned for the position of Principal Cellist for the Staatskapelle Dresden. He is unanimously selected by the committee. That is certainly not the problem. The problem is his sister with whom he'd been carrying on an illicit relationship for ten years is moving to London. The reason he came to Dresden was to be as far away from her as possible, and soon she will just be hours away. He isn't sure that if he sees her that he will be able to resist the nearly overpowering attraction they have for each other.Very early in his new job he meets a woman who is several years, call that six years, older than he. She is not particularly attractive physically; however, something about her gets Sean's attention very quickly. She is the Principal Bassoonist for the orchestra. Her name is Helga Königstein. Early in their relationship she lets him know that she is against formalizing their relationship. Helga moves in with Sean, and probably deliberately, gets pregnant. In spite of her fears to the otherwise Sean doesn't abandon her, and he convinces her that they should at least get married in the eyes of the state. It would just be a 'business deal'. Helga had quickly found out about Sean and Kate's relationship. It doesn't bother her in the least. What does bother her is that she might lose Sean to his sister.Be warned, there is some pretty strong material in this story; however, there is no abuse or violence among the parties involved. There are some scares and tense moments. Many secrets are discovered not to have been secrets at all. As far as I know, this novel concludes A California Saga series. It pretty much ties everything up.Also read "The Heart of the Holder", "The Narragansett Fork", "Musetta's Waltz", "Who is Sylvia", "Five Love Stories en Brochette", The Redhead and the PM", "St. George and the Dragon", and "Soaring With Eagles".The cover photo of The Blue Wonder Bridge is courtesy of Google Images.
