Overview

One unicorn is left in the world. Without that unicorn, the world has no hope to survive the Lord of Demons' plan to kill the human pestilence and their traitorous elvin allies. The unicorn's rider, the Hand of the Highmage, has fallen, not in battle, but to treachery. The elvin mage, Faeryn, is sent to investigate. What he learns threatens not just the Empire, but a distant land. For good or ill, a young princess reads their story among the histories in her secret library of magical books; a library where time does not hold sway. Outside its ethereal walls the Empire crumbles, falling to the fate the Lord of Demons has so long sought - no unicorn's magic to offer any hope. The little princess grows angry at what she learns, and a unicorn looks up into the sky... Welcome to Of Elves and Unicorns, the second book of the Hands of the Highmage Series.
