Overview
A well-documented thriller, but not a documentary; a novel that challenges one's prejudices about the most (in)famous country of the Middle East, discovered by the hero "thanks to" an accident. With the intriguing plot of a suspense story and the burning issues of our day, this novel is in all respects believable, because it is based on real events and introduces characters from real life. It gives an inside view of the "the mysterious Middle East." The first part takes place in Iran, where the daily life of residents will come as a surprise to Western readers. The second part is set in Israel, in the heart of a conflict that occupies the front page of Western media. Recent terror attacks all over the world, and the omnipresence of ISIS in the media puts this story at the heart of the news. The author, Liliane Messika, is well known to an American audience interested in the Middle East. She has been lecturing for several years in many cities of the Middle West on this topic and on its influence upon Europe. Etienne's Own Mideast Conflict is the first of her 34 books to be translated into English.
