This special edition of 'A Brief History of the Order of the Eastern Star' was written by Charlotte O. Steber, and first published in 1917, making it over a century old. The Order of the Eastern Star is a branch of Freemasonry founded in 1876 by Dr. Robert Morris, and is one of the few masonic orders open to both men and women. The motto of the order is "Charity, Faith and Loving Kindness."
