Overview

In the year 2248, the world is the city, and the city is gray and black, an immense favela. Narrow, crooked streets are lined with improvised, rectangular dwellings. These cubes are stacked one on another as high as anyone can see from the street, connected by shaky zigzag stairs and vertical ladders. Most of the cubes are made of scavenged materials--tin, plastic, cardboard. Sooty streaks of black and gray cover walls. An ever-present smoky haze fills the air. Food is scarce.
