Delicious Pixels bridges the gap between the two interdisciplinary fields of game and critical food studies. Although there are increasing examples of work examining how literature and film approach the complexities of food, attention to its representation in video games remains underdeveloped. Delicious Pixels utilizes feminist and queer frameworks to assess how food-related behaviors inform the construction of marginalized identities. Furthermore, it discusses how games operationalize food as a means of creating a sense of safety and coziness for the player, recognizing the increasing focus placed in them on food aesthetics. Using the theoretical framework of both disciplines, Delicious Pixels introduces video games to food studies, recognizing how the medium reflects global attitudes and beliefs surrounding food and eating.
