Overview
It is a well-known fact that information is power, as such the importance of journalism in our societies cannot be over emphasize. The media shape the way we see and perceive the world around us in their presentation and interpretations of issues around us including conflict which is a very controversial and common issue in our present day society. This study is based on outlining the role of journalism in the prevention, and management of conflict as well as peace building in African societies. It highlights the general functions of journalism in our society as well as the various branches of journalism emphasizing on its peace building and conflict management role. This work is developed within the framework of media frame theory.
