Overview
A spark of history, a living city, a reader's doorway into 17th-century London. Diary Of Samuel Pepys - Volume 62: February 1667-68 invites you to walk the docks, hear the rumour and see the day-to-day pulse of Restoration England through the keen observations of Pepys. This edition returns a cornerstone of maritime London life to breathable, accessible form. Pepys's precise, humane voice tracks plague and naval affairs, daily routines, social rhythms, and the informal exchange of news that braided the capital's fortunes. The diary's form-intimate, episodic, observational-transforms the past into a vivid, ongoing conversation: a historical diary that reads like a current affairs column, a cultural chronicle that still speaks to today's readers, researchers, and curious minds alike. With scholarly clarity and lyrical restraint, it invites both the casual reader and the serious historian to notice how a city survives, thrives, and recalibrates under pressure. Note on significance: this volume anchors a broader cultural record, a touchstone for scholars and lovers of classic literature, a bridge to adjacent historical diaries and related works by history writers. Selling points include that it has been out of print for decades and is now republished by Alpha Editions; it is restored for today's and future generations; more than a reprint, it is a collector's item and a cultural treasure, a complete, immersive edition for study and delight.
