The land of Punjab is a land of stories. People from different regions like Aryans, Greeks, Turks, Iranians, Afghans, while influencing the political life of Punjab with their arrival, also brought their civilization and culture with them and thus the cultural life of Punjab accepted different influences. The mood of speaking and listening to oneself has become so ingrained in the veins and fibers of the people here that their life itself has become a story. Therefore, it would be better if the land of Punjab would be called a land of stories. If the story of Punjab is rich, it is also a mirror of its era. The literature of Punjab is successfully trying to make its place in world literature along with other languages of the country. This book is a selection of some stories of Punjab./پنجاب کی سرزمین کہانیوں کی سرزمین ہے۔ مختلف علاقوں کے لوگ جیسے آریہ، یونانی، ترکی، ایرانی، افغانی اپنی آمد سے جہاں پنجاب کی سیاسی زندگی پر اثرانداز ہوئے وہیں وہ اپنی تہذیب و تمدن کو بھی ساتھ لائے اور یوں پنجاب کی ثقافتی زندگی نے مختلف اثرات قبول کیے۔ اپنی بات کہنے سننے کا مزاج یہاں کے لوگوں کے رگ و ریشے میں ایسا بسا کہ ان کی زندگی خود ایک کہانی بن گئی۔ اس لیے پنجاب کی سرزمین کو اگر کہانیوں کا دیس کہا جائے تو زیادہ بہتر رہے گا۔ پنجاب کی کہانی اگر امیر ہے تو یہ اپنے عہد کی آئینہ دار بھی ہے۔ پنجاب کا ادب ملک کی دوسری زبانوں کے ساتھ مل کر عالمی ادب میں اپنا مقام بنانے کی کامیاب کوشش کر رہا ہے۔ یہ کتاب پنجاب کی چند کہانیوں کا ایک انتخاب ہے۔
