Overview
Dévoiler is a collection of poetry reflecting Kellen's journey dealing with grief, depression, fear, and identity as a black man, husband, father, and son in America. As the translation of the title suggests, this book unveils the author's hidden truths - many of which he's dealt with in silence. Not only has this book served as a vessel of healing, but as a courageous step out of the shadows and into the light for the world to see the real him.**********************************************************************************************In These Hands (God is Blackness)If I held the whole Earth in these handsAnd promised to keep it safe -Would you still shoot me dead in the streets'Cause there's blackness in your space? If I wore the infinite galaxies around my neckConsisting of all sparkling specks -Would you still rob me of all lifeAnd leave me hanging in distress? If I've sworn to youWith one hand held on my Book of Truth -Would you still not believeIn all of these miracles you see?Are my words aloneNot enough proof? That I am human too
