Overview
Trump's Second Presidency: Year One, 2025-2026 makes the next 4 years interesting for Canada's relationship with the United States. It seems like slapping a 25% tariff on all Canadian goods coming into the United States came out of nowhere; it was like a slap in the face to a good neighbour. I'm sure that other nations felt the same. I hope our new Prime Minister, Mark Carney, can stand up to Mr. Trump who is using bullying methods and Executive Orders to get his way. Basically, he has ignored the Constitution. This book, Year One, is a memoir about happenings in my life as I track Trump's year one in office at the same time. I plan to write a book each year of his presidency until his Second term is done. I hope the man does not change the Constitution of the United States somehow to find a loophole so he can be President for a third term. It will be interesting to see how other nations react to Trump's booting up his tariffs to ridiculous heights. How Trump and Vance treated Zelensky in the Oval Office this year was shameful. The world was able to see what a bully Trump is.Canada was undergoing political changes during this time with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau resigning. Mark Carney took over and was elected on April 28 as new leader of Canada. He has plans to rebuild Canada in order to cope with the tariff restrictions that Mr. Trump imposed on other countries in order "to make America Great Again." Pundits wonder if Mr. Trump understands the complexity of intertwined economics among the world's countries, especially Canada and the United States.Year One will be updated in installments about every couple of months until Year One of the Second Presidency is done. Next January, I will publish Year Two with the idea to cover Year Three and Year Four of Trump's Second Presidency after that. It will be an interesting ride to couple my diary with Trump's "reign" and world affairs. Oh, and as to this offer, Trump says Canada would pay $61 Billion for Golden Dome, but zero as '51st state'.All you need is 3 words which are useful when someone doesn't seem to understand your language: Yes, No and Bite Me! These are useful in Trump's offer of being part of the Golden Dome that's fabricated in his skull under his golden hair. Where did the idea of a Golden Dome all of a sudden come from? Trump fabricates deals that really are no deals out of nowhere. If Canada says Yes: we can offer Trump a reciprocal land lease for 99 years where we rent out Canadian land to the United States for their installations. We can charge, let's say, 61 billion dollars for leasing Canadian land to the States. Maybe charge an extra sur-tax of 50%.If No: Canada doesn't need a Golden Dome. It's the States. But apparently, Trump doesn't understand No. So, Canada might have to respond, Bite Me!
