Don't think of a big, pink elephant! How successful were you just now? Did you not think of a big, pink elephant? Whatever we focus on, we get. Negation doesn't change this. If we focus on something in order to say "no" to it or avoid it, we are still focusing on it, and we therefore still get it. We feed it with our attention and energy and end up steering ourselves right toward it. Have you ever ridden a bicycle? What happens when you focus on the pole that you don't want to crash into? That's right, you crash right into it. In the rest of life, as in bicycle riding, we go in the direction we look. It doesn't matter if we say "no". Considering this fundamental nature of the way we and the world operate, we probably ought to change how we often approach things-as individuals and as a society-if we actually wish to get what we want. This book examines how we can work with and make use of our amazing ability to get whatever we focus on, regardless of negation, so that this integral nature of the functioning of all things works for us rather than against us.
