Overview
There was a time in America when we were united as we never had been before or since. United in purpose, mission, and goals. The first goal was the defeat of Japan, for she declared war on us first. Several days later Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy followed suit. Events and world politics brought the mission to defeat Nazi Germany to the forefront of military planning and policies of the Roosevelt administration. Our purpose was to restore democracy to those countries who were subjugated and occupied. This work examines life on the home front in America during World War II, specifically, the conversion of industry, mobilization of the workforce, elimination of many civilian goods and the rationing of many other goods during the war, and financing what became the arsenal of democracy.
