Ishma'il doesn't shy away from controversial subjects. So have an open mind. Because this book is not about appreciating poetry and philosophy as much as it is about applying the wisdom of the Qur'an and Sunnah to our everyday lives. It's a daily devotional. And all of the selections of this book are but expressions of the author and how he engages with the source material of Islam and how he understands it. And he hopes that his anecdotal style makes this 1,400+ year religion more palatable and easier to understand from a modern urban voice. So it intentionally avoids sounding academic, it wants to sound real, applying faith to real life. So please open the book. Get ready to be engaged mentally and spiritually. Because everyone will get something from it, God willing, even if you are not a Muslim.
