Man Full of Flowers: [with Spanish original version]

Man Full of Flowers [with Spanish original version] (Independently Poetry, Sima Collection, 2022) by Luis Cruz-Villalobos. Translation by Mark McGraw. Introduction by Germain Droogenbroodt. What makes this collection especially interesting is its philosophical perfume, but also its sensibility for the simple things. It is poetry that is original and deep, especially rare in the contemporary poetic world. As we noted in the first poem, nature is present in the verses, always with its poetic-philosophical stamp, which shows up like Cruz-Villalobos' typical signature, as seen in the short poem, Rain, where he writes: "The singular miracle of feeling rain / Not just to receive the drops / Not just to drench oneself with its grace." Germain DroogenbroodtThis is a creator and gardener, cultivator of the word, of a poetic knowledge of the creation that tangles and weaves into things, as if to animate them. As if to animate itself. It is the same act of creating like a flourishing and a bursting forth of the word. It is the magic act, the manifestation: poet-creator-word-flower are one and are being created in this enunciating act. Matilde Escobar Negri Author: Luis Cruz-Villalobos (Santiago de Chile, 1976).
