Overview

A fractured kingdom. A ruthless king. An unconquerable love. Journey to the kingdom of Delveron within the land of Medacia, where magic is wielded solely by the Daradaine-an ancient race favored by the gods themselves. But where magic was once a wildfire, it has now become a dim flicker, the outlands of Delveron reduced to factions battling for survival. Still, one legend promises an end to both weakness and war-a legend of a set of lost scrolls hidden by the gods themselves, the possessor of whom will find power, invincibility, and maybe even immortality. Three must attempt the quest for these scrolls: Jenacai-the disgraced captain of the guard tasked with finding the scrolls by the tyrannical king of Delveron himself and cursed with the knowledge that if he fails, he will never see his wife and daughter again. Thorne-once the king's personal assassin, whose dark, tortured past led him directly to the inside of a jail cell. Now free, Thorne will do anything to change his fate for good. But what does he really want from this journey-redemption or revenge? And Shanta-a beautiful orphan desperate to learn where she belongs in this world, and whose strange power just might hold the key to unlocking the scrolls themselves. As this unlikely trio ventures into the unknown, they soon find the scrolls aren't just lost, but guarded-guarded by fearsome creatures, by dangerous rivals, by threats unlike any they've encountered before. And the only thing more dangerous than magic is those who would do anything to keep it hidden.
