Overview

MY HUSBAND AND I is a fiction based on the life of a couple (Tony and Daizy) with diverse social, economic and academic background. Tony and Daizy are in an arranged marriage where they never dated and while Daizy is doing everything to make the marriage work, Tony feels he isn't supposed to be in that marriage and is acting as if Daizy is merely his servant. Being that he is a graduate with a good job and respectable friends, he feel ashamed to call a lady who never proceeded beyond Primary School his Wife. Tony brings women to their matrimonial house, some prostitutes he picks from uptown brothels and forces Daizy to cook for them and in some cases prepare their bedding. In case Daizy raises the issue with her parents, they instead claim she is having a demon and even hire exorcists from the village go to send away the demon in her in the city.At first Tony never wanted to sleep with Daizy and for a year they stayed in the same house without sex. Then one day, Tony decided to have sex with her and he realized that she was sweeter than all the women he had slept with in his life. As he put it " Warthog lives in a sugarcane plantation but it never realizes how sweet the canes are" This changed his perception about Daizy, and he slowly started to accept her as a wife though some of the things that he initially did to her continued. The book is basically on romance, betrayal, infidelity, misunderstandings and reconciliation. Later in the book Tony offered to take Daizy back to school and University where she did Bsc Nursing. The plot location revolves around Nairobi City in Kenya and the Rural Kisumu area., on the Shores of Lake Victoria ( The largest Fresh Water lake in the world)
