One of the key factors that will determine the health of a church is how its leaders initiate change. And, how the members respond or dare I say react, to it. Suffice to say that in too many churches, change, even small change, is difficult. But it is not impossible!"With God, all things are possible" (Luke 1:37). A few years ago the author decided that it did not matter who received the credit as long as God's work was being done. He began giving credit to the members of the church for any of the church's successes. He also decided that any blame for failures would be assumed by leadership, and primarily by himself. The "Buck," if you will, would stop with him. The decision was life-transforming. A whole new realm of accountability and blessing was created. He was living out Titus 1:7 in his life and ministry. By accepting full leadership responsibility for the church over which the Lord had made the author His steward the Lord allowed the author to discover more effective leadership skills. Skills he shares in this book. Pastoring a church has always been a demanding profession. So far as it relates to the subject of this book, most churches need to change, but they will often refuse to do so. With over 3 decades of pastoral experience the author has successfully led churches to make major and significant changes. He has also been run off in a few places for having tried. This is a book written from experience. Written so that younger men will not have to learn, as the author did, the hard way.
