Overview
The U.S. Marines landed on Guadalcanal, sparking a six-month campaign, which turns into the bloodiest naval battles in American history. The second carrier battle dubbed The Battle of Santa Cruz costs the U.S. Navy another fleet carrier, the famed USS Hornet. Navy cruisers and destroyers battle the third largest navy, The Imperial Japanese Navy to keep the Japanese from resupplying the troops on Guadalcanal with men and supplies. The engagements, too many to track take a toll on men and ships from both sides. Petty Officers Sean Randall and Bart Singleton are tasked with the recovery of a mysterious heavy box from behind enemy lines. Danger and death await the weak and careless in the volcanic jungles of the Solomon Islands.
