Overview

Black men have decided there are certain subjects we just can't talk about. Well, I wrote The Messages We Carry to bring those conversations out into the open. This book helps Black males work through uncomfortable issues so they can let go of the past, form healthy relationships, and live their best lives. Part workbook, part conversation, The Messages We Carry helps you explore: - Personal Identity- Race- Black Male Archetypes- Brotherhood Rules & Code- Power and Control- Black Male Friendships- Hidden Emotions- Romantic RelationshipsMy book doesn't just talk at you. I also provide you with thoughtful exercises and reflection questions that I use with my actual clients. You'll walk away feeling confident in your power to change your life story for the better. Who am I? I'm a public speaker, published author, psychotherapist, and educator with over 20 years of experience working with kids and Black males. I have a B.A. in music and sociology and an M.Ed. in Counselor Education with specialized research in therapy practices related to African American families. I also hold several certifications and licensures: elementary teaching certification with ESL endorsement, PK-12 school counseling certification, licensed professional counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC). Regardless of the role I occupy, my mission is to equip, empower, and educate.
