I have sailed the Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands on I shoe string for nearly 40 years. One trip, was made round trip in 17 days with a $600 dollar sailboat and a $100 motor.My cash on hand was about $80. I ate fish, crabs, sea urchins and various other sea foods which I caught along the way. My diet was supplemented by a trip to the Dollar Store, where I spent $39. Moorage for 16 nights was about a $80 since a had an annual pass.
