Overview
Crin Hawk is vocalist, lyricist with UK metal band, The Meads of Asphodel. This book of poetry is inspired by numerous emotions and events that have shaped his life. The love of his parents, and relationships, with the ultimate demise of them all. That creates many of the feelings we all embrace or try to avoid without success at some point. With his lyrical insight to the Meads of Asphodel albums, that focus on the inhumanity of humanity, religion, and death. His agnostic approach to life reaches its scathing conclusion here. The poetry also lays bare his cynical view of life, people, and empathy for nature.Excerpt of the forewordWithin these piquant poems you will find grimly incisive musings on the solemn inevitability of death and the comparative futility of life, replete with all its profound paradoxes and ceaseless suffering. The cryptic follies of love and desire are likewise examined, sometimes through a wry and sardonic lens, but more often infused with erudite melancholia and a genuine, ethereal adoration. And of course, the inherent hypocrisy of organized religion rightly receives a pitilessly scathing appraisal, withering before a searing indictment of the spiritual morass which mankind's devotion to ersatz monotheism has wrought throughout the millennia. This wicked little volume contains all that and more; poetry ranging from the fleetingly whimsical to the bombastically epic.
