Overview

The content of this book is both a cheerful and a moving love story with an interesting plot and several unexpected reversals of fortune. The middle-aged protagonist of the novella owns and takes care of a herd of goats and from their milk, he produces and sells halloumi - the renowned cheese of Cyprus. Moreover, he has a considerable fondness for a particular female goat, which he treats as a pet and considers as his living lucky charm. The adventures of this goat have a strong influence on the relationships between the principal players of the story and in particular the romance between the two young protagonists. In addition to the amusing scenario, the present work seeks to convey some important moral messages to the reader. Some of the major themes that the scenario tackles are: (i) the merits of stoicism, (ii) the power of love, and (iii) assisting fellow humans in their time of need. This is author's second published bilingual book that deals with various interesting aspects of the traditional country life of Cyprus. The first was published in 2018 and is entitled "Make a Mountain out of a Molehill (In English & Cypriot Greek)". Significantly, both published books have been officially approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, and Youth of the Republic of Cyprus to be included in the list of recommended books for the enrichment of school libraries and its utilization by teachers and students.
