Overview
As the youngest of four siblings from my mother's only marriage, my journey through life was far from easy. I had to work tirelessly to become the person I am today. As a child, I often went to bed unsure of what the next day would bring, and I wasn't always certain I'd have the stability I needed to concentrate and do well in school. Despite the difficult circumstances we lived through, my mom-our sole provider and caregiver-did her utmost to ensure that our basic needs were met. She made sure we were always clean and well-dressed, disguising the hardships we faced so that others could not easily tell our struggles.
