All believers hope to grow and rise spiritually, yet an opposing force always seems to hinder their will. Is it the devil? His role is to mislead, but God tells us that he is weak and that he cannot reach "His servants". So why can this force hold us back and divert us from our path? The reason is that a duality appears when the human soul is created, one that longs to meet its Lord and the other that seeks to dwell in this world. Unfortunately, we pay little or no attention to this dimension. Why? Because it lies within our inner self and requires us to focus our attention inward rather than on the external world. Today's excessive distractions prevent us from accessing our inner world, which is where true spirituality must take root. The author relies mainly on the Koran to explain his personal experiences.
