Overview
Going to school can be such an exciting experience! Fun teachers, cool classrooms, and amazing friends! But can you imagine what it is like for someone who has never seen a school? Who are their teachers? Do they have friends? How do they learn new things? Follow along as one special boy shares what school is like for him beyond the building. Inspired by the experiences of her own homeschooled children and her love of school, Erin C. Snowden hopes that this book inspires students of all types to remain curious about the world around them and take every opportunity to learn something new. School can happen anywhere! I've Never Seen A School does not uplift any educational choice as superior to another but rather recognizes the excitement of traditional school while acknowledging the beauty of the homeschooling experience. Illustrated by the talented Mariam Poppins, I've Never Seen A School intentionally uses colors, textures, and fonts that are cool and calming. The book was reviewed by young readers representing a spectrum of neurodiversity and received enthusiastic support from all! It was important to the author that readers of all abilities be able to enjoy I've Never Seen A School and read along if desired. The rhythmic cadence, repeating themes, and visual prompts invite the participation of both parent and child making this a perfect "read with me" selection over and over again.
