Indian culture represents the "Diversity in Unity", a concept that emphasizes the value of embrassing and celebrating diversity. This recognizes diverse background, cultures, identities within a community.Embracing such diversity requires creating an inclusive environment where everyone has an opportunity to survive, be successful.The book "Equity and Compassion in Inclusive Social Engagement" is an outcome of the Study Conference organised by the Department of Social Work, Self Financed Stream, Madras CHristian College in collaboration with the Professional Social Workers Association Chennai. It contains research papers of academicians and research scholars relating to the socially excluded groups. The contributors have described their socio economic conditions, challenges and suggested suitable measures to the stakeholders for Social Inclusion and Development.
