Teresa of Ávila, Spain, was born into a wealthy family in 1515. She loved Jesus very much and became a Carmelite nun. When she received the Eucharist, she could feel his great love and grew stronger in her faith and friendship with Jesus. Teresa felt the nuns needed more quiet time and more time for prayer and so she started a new Carmelite convent. The nuns prayed for the Church, for sinners and people who did not love God. She was also known as Teresa of Jesus. She is the patron (October 15) of headache sufferers and Spanish Catholic writers.
