Williamson County, located in middle Tennessee, was created on October 26, 1799 by the Tennessee General Assembly out of a portion of Davidson County. It was named for Dr. Hugh Williamson of North Carolina. The area has been the home of Mississippian mound builders and later the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek and Shawnee tribes of Native Americans. This volume offers a verbatim transcription of the county court book of wills, inventories of estates, and administrations for residents of Williamson County, Tennessee, during the years 1800-1812. Herein, readers will find valuable information about the locals based on the inventories and wills, such as their occupation, economic status, familial relations, and lifestyle, as well as gain insight into the social and economic conditions of the time. The names are given as they are found in the original records of the county, with no correction in spelling, etc. of any of the names. A full-name index refers to the page number in the original document.
