Jorge Mañach nació en Sagua la Grande, Cuba, en 1898 y murió exiliado en Puerto Rico en 1961. Es considerado uno de los intelectuales más lúcidos de la época republicana cubana, siendo también profesor de la Universidad de La Habana y de Columbia University en New York. Jorge manach was born in Sagua la Grande, Cuba, in 1898 and died an exile in Puerto Rico in 1961. He is considered one of the most lucid intellectuals of Cuban republican era, while also teaching at University of Havana and Columbia University in New York. This book contains the two most important and controversial conferences that he wrote which reflect the history, reality and character of the Cuban people.
