Overview
When Eva Conley moves to a small Florida town, instead of a warm Southern welcome, she faces the rudeness of contractor Reid Jackson. They engage in sarcastic battles of wit as Eva settles into the community and joins the church that Reid attends. The man¿s arrogance annoys Eva, but her son adores him. Eva and Reid attempt civility for Jonah¿s sake. Reid feels free to question many of her choices, especially when Eva finds herself in need of rescue on more than one occasion. Confrontations in the form of sarcastic battles of wit amuse their mutual friends. The series of mishaps and her battles with Reid turn into a fight against her growing attraction to her nemesis. Both Reid and Eva join a service project out of town, repairing homes for elderly and disadvantaged residents. Away from their normal battlefield, the pair faces new challenges as they begin to admit their relationship is no longer so antagonistic. During the last day of repair, Eva finds herself in a dangerous situation and once again Reid turns up to rescue her. The major change in their relationship is short-lived, though, as a jealous competitor interferes. Storms, both real and emotional, brew as the two former antagonists resolve their doubts and differences and find a bond built on trust and security and a love backed by faith.
