Overview
All lives (and the loves contained within them) may be thought of as journeys. Each of us, at any certain time will occupy a space along such a pathway. It leads from youth, with its excitement, hope and foolishness, through mistakes, omissions and the recognition of self-delusion, by degrees into maturity and confidence, and finally to serenity. This is the story of one such journey. It is true in essence, and in such details as memory, at this distance, will allow. Those who might recognize themselves as fellow-travelers along this path may equally share feelings of nostalgia, regret, self-reproach and memories of love lost. None should feel any of these emotions past the level that I myself do, and all, I hope, will recall those times with affectionate remembrance.
