Living in Connecticut is great; but working in Manhattan offers a man unlimited business and social opportunities. And the college recruiter continues: Just get that sheepskin, join the team and his growth is assured; the beautiful women of the Big Apple await him. Gary Norton willingly signs on; then the reality sets in. He finds the daily commute tiresome and everything around him is a big lie. He hates his job and believes the people within the office are loud and obnoxious. Social avoidance and self-imposed isolation become his escape. Being an office-hermit gives him some solace, but it fails to solve his misery; it drives him further into despair. Susan Nakon, a co-worker, sensing his angst gently pierces his leave-me-alone shield. He accepts her subtle intrusion, and develops a close friendship. Unknown to Susan, Gary is smitten with a woman he meets while commuting home. He fumbles their first contact but with his desire and her teasing Gary naively falls into her conniving web. Their simple liaison causes his life to descend into a personal hell. His relations with Susan flounders; his employment is in jeopardy and serious legal issues need resolution. He desperately wants to free himself from this quagmire. Gary searches his soul and believes he has a solid plan for his future only to be upset by new issues forcing him to redefine his path to happiness.
