Overview
God's Thunder in the Sky presents a collection of poems offering a wide-ranging exploration of the nature of faith in our contemporary environment from the point of view of octogenarian Max Roytenberg. They, in part, represent his struggle to better understand the world around him. He seeks to communicate his perceptions to his fellow man in the hope that they strike responsive chords and represent some truths about our world that others can identify with. Written over a period of fifty years, these verses sometimes challenge God, sometimes offer appeals to God for his attention, and sometimes offer warning about the cataclysm humanity faces through the absence of faith. Throughout the collection, the poetry seeks to command new ways of looking at life. It focuses on the conflict in thought between the undeniable beauties and wonders of human existence and the horrors of the same, as well as squaring this with the idea of the existence of a deity closely involved in human affairs. God's Thunder in the Sky offers challenge, humor, puzzles to solve, and rhymes to delight the ear as well as the mind.
