Monitoring Indicators of the Visitor Experience and Resource Conditions in the Denali Backcountry Summer 2010

The Denali National Park and Preserve Back Country Management Plan (BCMP), which was adopted in 2006 (National Park Service 2006), is based on the Visitor Experience and Resource Protection (VERP) management framework (National Park Service 2005). Key steps of VERP, and all other recreation management frameworks, are to identify indictors of resource and experiential condition and selection of standards for each of the indicators that are targeted at meeting desired conditions for specific management areas.
