Educational Leadership and Emotional Intelligence in the Face of Social Crisis

The education systems of different nations have set out to provide students a learning-teaching process with solid bases to enable them to become successfully integrated to society. All school reforms are geared toward raising educational goals so that when students graduate they are more competent. Nevertheless, if the education of a country were to be evaluated by the behaviors that impact diverse societies, bordering on social crises, one could affirm that the schooling provided by different education systems has failed. It has failed because learning has been confined to the classroom and has not involved all the educational components to allow them to grow and create new knowledge resulting in more effective social relationships for the common good. In the face of the social crisis in which we live, Emotional Intelligence is vital for the future of forthcoming generations and their education. When education leaders contribute to the development of the personalities of the students, they also guide society toward the search of global peace and unity. Education leaders must be active individuals who promote the development of teachers, students, and the whole community in order to transform society.
