He was soon deployed to France and Germany as a military intelligence officer dedicated to helping fellow Jews who had stayed in Europe. The atrocities that he witnessed in the death camps and the Nazi prisoners of war that he interrogated deeply affected Aaron. His letters to his wife expressed the horrors he saw and the emotional scars they left. Their life-long dedication to Jewish advocacy and education was the result.
