Overview
This volume opens with an international symposium on "Cultural Nationalism in Scottish Literary Studies: the View from Elsewhere," with contributors from Italy, Germany, the United States and the United Arab Emirates, and a response from the Scottish scholar Andrew Hook. The volume includes eleven full-length essays on literature from the medieval period to the early 21st century (including two substantial essays on Burns's politics); three illustrated shorter notes; and a review on Scotland and the Caribbean. Studies in Scottish Literature, founded in 1963, was the first refereed journal in the field and continues as a leading forum for new research and scholarly discussion.
