The greatest learning experiences in my life have come from what the Chinese Taoists call "hidden people." They are the everyday people who are the ones who really "make the world go round." They are the ones who every day quietly do the work, obey the laws, pay the taxes, and fight the wars that keep us alive. They are not the fakes, phonies, and frauds who populate the mass media today. They are not always professors or scholars. Yet, they have learned priceless lessons about how to lead successful, constructive, meaningful lives from raw experience. As I reflect now, I realize that my best learning about how to live has come from these "hidden people." As Lao Tzu observed, the most important lessons in life are "caught" from the examples of others, not "taught" through books, media, classrooms, lectures. I have "caught" such priceless learning from the "hidden people"
