When the royal guards arrived at the door to Lady Roberta's home, she feared the worst. They insisted that she had been summoned by Queen Veranda and must come immediately. Lady Roberta tried to leave her infant daughter behind with her Lady's maid Quinn Denning, but the guards would not allow it. They conveyed the Queen's orders that Lady Roberta and all who were important to her must come to the castle. Lady Roberta wrapped her daughter in a small blanket and invited Quinn to ride along to look after the child. The three of them were nearly forced into the waiting coach and the journey began toward the castle. As they got closer to their destination fear consumed Lady Roberta and she admitted that Christine's father was King Benjamin. She feared that if Christine were discovered certain death awaited them both. She convinced Quinn to escape the coach with Christine and raise her as her own, never to look back or reveal the truth about Christine to anyone. When the opportunity presented itself and the guards were distracted, Quinn took the baby and hid outside the coach. She waited until it pulled away and then began her walk with the child who had in that moment become her own. This story reveals the cost of protecting that secret and the daughter Quinn Denning grows to love with all her heart.
