Teresita And The Missing Diseño

How can 15-year-old Teresita keep her promise to her dying grandfather to protect Rancho Santa Magdalena? In 1850, California became a state. The American Land Commission demanded to see the diseno (hand-drawn map) and land grant for their rancho, or they would claim it . . . and, Teresita's father cannot find them. During the next few weeks, she lives through the death of her beloved grandfather, searing hot Devil winds, chaparral fire storms, torrential rainfall, threatening squatters, banditos and much, much more.
