Moscow 1959: A Week with Dad behind the Iron Curtain. Considered evil and dangerous by her mother, Barb's mom finally agrees to let her daughter travel to the U.S.S.R. with her eccentric, rule-breaking father. In Vienna, the week before flying to Moscow, Barb, her sister, mom, and dad are caught up in the riots and demonstrations of a Communist Youth Festival. As if this wasn't enough, they then drive to see the "real" Iron Curtain along the Hungarian/Austrian border. The next week Barb's dad, Karl, is threatened by anti-capitalists, aids mistreated Americans and sneaks into the room of two anti-communist Hungarians. Followed every step of the way by a disapproving, government-issued tour guide, Karl and Barb's Moscow adventure ends with Karl winning over the guide with his American stubbornness and charm and Barb has a romantic encounter with a handsome Ukrainian!
